My Thought of Poetry

Story
This movie is set in a small town in Korea, a 65-year-old woman wants to pursue her childhood dream which is to write a poem. She goes to poetry class in culture centre. Her life isn't easy, she has to bring up her teenage grandson, with only own pension and her part-time housemaid job. Her daughter apparently lives in other town for work, cannot give any financial support. Yet she is still very happy and charming on her age until a school girl killed herself by jumping off the bridge. Here is the story start.

The girl who commits suicide happened to be a classmate of her grandson. Later on, an unexpected gathering with five other parents reveals to her that their sons and her grandson raped the school girl repeatedly in the last months which led her to end her life. In this meeting, the parents decides to give thirty million Korean Wons in total to the deceased's mother as compensation in exchanged of her silence. After this shocking news, she is also diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Since then, she hardly smiles, she tries to hold her life together. She attends to every poetry class. She goes to listen other poets's works in a reading club. She also goes to where the boys committed their crime.

It might be shame to bring up the topic of the rape, but the reasons of her never discussed the matter with her own daughter and her grandson are remains unknown. The financial stress which leads her to do couple of shameful business. Although she wants her grandson to avoid illegal charges, she may be somewhat pleased that he is arrested for the sake of the raped girl.

The teacher of the poetry class, asks the class to really see any objects. Not only to see them, they need to smell them, touch them, or even think as if you are that objects. She works hard, she drops notes everywhere she goes. She finishes her homework and leave her first and probably the last poem to her teacher to read. The poem is not the story of her, it is the story of the suffered girl.

I'm not told where she is gone to at the end of the movie. Yet I think she fulfills her duties as a mother and grandmother. She also completed her childhood goal-to write a poem. Her life is completed.

Technical Issue
I love the colours of this film. It's rich and the clarity of the shadow. I would love to know how they do it.
The framing to me, always tilt slightly higher on the right most of the time. It is found that on handheld shots and tripod shots. It could be mechanical problem. It annoys me a bit. I hope that will fix it on a DVD version.
I didn't pay a lot of attention of its music. I think this is what good movie should be that it's there but I wouldn't notice unless I pay special attention.
The sound quality of the dialogue are very good.

Scripts and translation
I love the scripts. It's very lively. The poems is very clever too. I couldn't understand any Korean, so all I can get from the poem is the meaning of it. Although the subtitles is good.

The story behind another story
One of the reason makes me want to see the movie is that I want to know how this main character to cope with Alzheimer's decease. Could learning to write a poem help slowing down depreciation of her memory? This movie didn't answer my question. I was looking for wrong source for my question.

What makes memories last longer? I believe photographs can refresh one memory time after time. Wed is one of the most important moment in human life. If pictures during wedding are captured perfectly, it certainly gives the couple a great flights traveling time back to their day.

Seriously, I've been busy last month. Not working makes me even busier! I must write down before I totally forget what happened to me in the last month. I drove my friend's car few times. He taught me. He is a good teacher. I'm told I did well. I believe so too! I went to see humpback whales in Hervey Bay. We saw only 8 whales due to it was early season for whale watching, we could have seen more in August and September. They were young whales, but they were very big, about 5m long. I went to see busking competition twice. Some act were just amazing. I also went to see the musical- Cats! It's absolutely great! I'm learning how to cook from a cook book. Food in here is just beautiful. I love shopping in supermarket. I also did mowing. Mower could be a murder weapon! Just kidding. I also planted a lemon trees in my friend's backyard. In the mean time, I'm graceful to have freelance work from my previous boss. Money shouldn't be an issue for me. Once I got the TFN, I will be ready to find jobs in Australia!

香港味道

昨日再到Sunny Bank，終於嘗到香港味道啦！餐廳名字忘記了，用廣東話點菜感覺突然好有趣！艇仔粥跟蘿蔔牛腩飯都很有水準！餐廳兩面分別置有兩台大LCD電視，非常香港！播放著TVBJ的無綫新聞，香港到不得了！門口貼上兩張海報，一張是全球華人新秀大實2009（突然有參加的衝動，反正沒人識嘛），另一張（相信是東亞安排）黃宗擇與At 17來澳洲表現！實在難想像他們台上合唱呢！！他們其中一站在Brisbane!本來有興趣去看，票價平的話，不過好像要到Karaoke換票什麼什麼的，還是萛吧！

昨晚，晚飯到West End前路過一間coffee shop，名叫The Forest Cafe，看見有live music，即時入去坐，原來他們賣organic coffee,食物都好似係，三人樂團瑟縮在一角好可憐，男人彈bass,女人彈大提琴，另一女人彈結他加主唱，有結他，有絃樂，即時想起damien rice！不過她們的音樂一點也不似，聽了三首，我們就趕去會朋友啦，下次一定要再到訪！不知道下次還會否有live music呢！

25 Down is a play about James and people around him. I guess I was the only Chinese there on last Saturday afternoon. The play is set in present time in Brisbane. Location is not a matter, what matter is the people and the emotions within them. I could find myself or my friends in some of the characters. That makes me love this play. Who isn't looking for their love and the meaning of life? BIlle Brown Studio is a small but cozy theatre. A hundred seats were all taken I believed. The stage is made of wood. I really like its smell. I really like magic of stage. Lights in and lights out, props appeared and disappeared. Projected texts on the backstage also helped distracting audience's eyes. Those texts also emphasized the situation on each scene.

香港味道找不到

Sunny Bank是Brisbane出名華人居住地區，今天我跟朋友行了一圈，去了一間叫小香港的吃午餐，叫了一客乾炒伊麵及叉雞飯，加凍檸茶，朋友點了一杯紅荳冰，等了又等，看來這裡的華人跟澳洲人生活速度同化了!先來是叉雞飯，雞不是白切雞，沒雞味，白飯成半球置於餸一旁，本來賣相不錯，奇怪的是飯上淋了類似碟頭飯燒汁！試了一啖，的確是燒汁；叉燒卻依然有燒味汁，汁味道可以，不過叉燒卻不正宗，應該不是出自燒爐，失望。再來是乾炒伊麵，大驚，乾炒變了濕炒！味道其實不差...
更妙是飲品，台式奶茶包裝，味道不是我熟悉的，朋友的紅荳冰更是經典，紅荳加紫色沙冰！我試了一口，味道非椰汁，更像芓頭味，加上激甜，實在難飲！
可愛的地方是，杯上有一條問題，大致上是：經濟低迷，裁員風盛，最不應該飲的飲品叫什麼名字？　

答案：仙草蜜（先炒me）

今天看了一篇文章，關於擔心澳洲書商生意（生存空間）被蠶食，引起我好奇心，看完大概指Dymocks及其他大型賣書商想聯手施壓廢除平行進口（水貨）時間限制，話說澳洲創作出版的書刊，外國版本是不能入口競爭的，而外國書（如英國出版的哈利波特），澳洲書商需要於30內出版澳洲版哈利波特，過時的話，除平行進口（水貨）版便可隨意入口鬥價。
文章作者最關心是鬥價引致澳洲書商無力出版本地作品，惡性循環犧牲澳洲作家及養肥了水貨商！

Batman- the Dark Knight on IMAX

再次入場觀看Batman，因為很喜歡這戲，亦因為見識一下IMAX版的分別！
套用別人說話：Size does matter。從未看過如此超級大頭面！畫面清晰過一般戲院很多，立場感強烈，不過畫面大亦令眼球疲於看畫面多個細節！
有機會的話會入IMAX看首輪影片。

The story goes like this...
My friend was having his muffin as I finished my burger. I was looking around until my sight landed on a book which was held by a woman. 'I had a copy too' i thought! I was excited to see a person who share the same interest of mine. Reading is more or less like a self-activity, or put it this way, it is a one-way communication between book writer and reader. unlike fans you met in a concert, you can be sure they like the same band as you do. The woman must have sensed that she was watched. She looked up, then she found that I was looking at her. I quickly looked away. Then she read *her book again, I couldn't help looking at her again. I was reading her actually. I was thinking who was this woman, why she would pick this book, did she feel sympathy to the main character from the book as I do, etc.
I left this restaurant as my friend finished his muffin. I was sure that woman thought I looked at her breast rather than her book!

勇者鬥惡龍一

是否認識《勇者鬥惡龍》這遊戲?它已成為日本RPG遊戲經典,現時系列中有八個已售,第九集仍在製作中,已過往歷史推測,第九集很有可能零九年底才發售! 自小喜歡鳥山明漫畫-龍珠,愛屋及烏下便留意這款遊戲,原因是他負責插畫及人物設計。上星期終於玩及完成了《勇者鬥惡龍一》,這遊戲以今天大家眼光,試玩可能需要很大勇氣!(說笑) 沒有第八代可表現鳥山明畫風的漂亮立體畫面,亦沒有高質音樂襯托,動畫般的戰鬥演繹,實在很難令人起勁! 這次以欣賞角度遊玩,別有風味,一路覺得勇士救公主劇情很土,每次戰鬥只會單對單,覺得怪物們很有武士道精神,最可愛地方是魔王只是靜靜地躲在城堡中,任由主角成長強大,直到擊倒自己!
接下來會挑戰第二集! :)

不中不英(Double Talk)

斷斷續續的看完了Cup出版的不中不英(Double Talk),作者為Michael Chugani(褚簡寧),作者以英語寫作的政治評論文章,輯印成書,每篇皆有中文譯本對照,再加上陶傑評註,從中學了不少。
因為一小時沖印相片的關係,我趁空檔走進三聯,料不到書展熱潮漫延至一般書店,很多人在打書釘,看到梁文道的新書上市了,不過本人不會在這裡買書,為了折扣還是留待下次去二樓書店吧!之後想找不中不英第二期,深知上年出版的書要到相關書架上找,赫然發覺這書有集多類型一身,不知往那裡找,它是政治評論,亦可從中英對照下學英文,或許對翻譯有興趣的人,亦可從中偷師。
找了大概十五分鐘後,終於在英語學習的書架上找到了,如之前所說,我當然沒有買啦,只是看了序,過多數天才到二樓書店乖乖付款。

This blog hasn't been updated recently. Part of the reason was that I was let down by few people, the other reason was that I let people down. I was overwhelmed by those problem. I love food, but I'm not a food lover. I could hardly imagine myself to have supper buffet. Yet there is first time for everything.
I couldn't eat a lot although I emptied my stomach since 4 pm. I looked around the restaurant, people rushed to their table with food on both hands, and rushed out for more food with their greasy lips. when I was struggling to finish my dessert, ironically I saw a man wearing a t-shirt with a slogan 'eat eat eat'. He really knows what clothes to put on under certain circumstance.

這數天追看剛完結第七季American Idol，當中一位評判叫Randy Jackson，我發覺他說話方式很特別，不論台上參賽者是男或女，Randy也會說：「Hey dude」、「Yo man」或「Dawg」。我不懂美國非洲裔文化，似乎這樣稱呼女性是被接受的。

題外話，這季最後十二強隨便一位也唱得比香港新一代歌手好，為什麼呢？

Apollo Justice:Ace Attorney Review

我以前在這裡介紹過Phoenix Wright:Ace Attorney系列(日版名稱:逆転裁判),認為這遊戲故事及遊戲方式很吸引,我剛玩完這遊戲第四集Apollo Justice:Ace Attorney,以下是我的感想。
改用新主角Apollo Justice是一個勇敢的決定,上代主角(Phoenix Wright)與其他角色劇情已經交代八八九九,起用新角色展開故事個人很欣賞,不過為了銷量保證而將Phoenix Wright造成今集大配角,將故事發生Phoenix被吊銷律師牌照後七年後，他變成酒吧鋼琴師，他的朋友全失蹤了(沒有交代)，加上他突然多了一個養女，實在令人難以相信是同一個人，故事立足點極之勉強。遊戲中法庭上加入了新元素，尋找證人說某些字句而引起的緊張表情動作，個人對此沒什麼好感，另外今次作為主角對手的檢控官，除了裝帥外，覺得他太不濟了。
總結這是系列中最差的，亦破壞了忠心玩家對Phoenix Wright英勇印象。

大賺550D

上週Canon宣佈將會推出最低規格DSLR,取名為Canon EOS 1000D,看過這機規格介於400D與450D之間,價錢若比450D平一千港元的話,其實幾有吸引力,明顯Canon想與其他廠商爭低價市場,由於DSLR這玩意需要更換鏡頭才能拍攝多樣化題材,每支鏡頭價值不菲,用家即使想轉投其他牌子需要付出沉重代價,致使用家容易產生忠誠,造成一旦選購一個牌子,用家便向廠商進貢大量金錢,對攝影有興趣而不太肯定熱情維持多久的人士,他們很大機會買較廉價相機,令低價DSLR成為廠商必爭之市場。

寫了一段悶話只想帶出,網上有人開玩笑說買1000D比上市450D更抵,大賺550D! :)

P.S.而Canon DSLR相機編號令人容易理解,個位數為最高檔型號,由十位數遞減至百位數到這部千位型號為最低規格及廉價DSLR。

Carry on, Make it work

Project Runway, a TV program that I addicted to it recently. I love it. This is a reality program to find a next American fashion designer. Each episode, one or two designers would be eliminated. Unlike contestants killing each other in Survivor or American Next Top Model, in this program those fashion designers really work their leg off to make amazing, adorable clothes.
Actually, I'm not a fashion guy, but I found this program really intriguing. I admire their creativity, original design and craftsmanship. I've watched four seasons so far, I would like to see Season 5 and Season 6.
Tim Gunn as a mentor in the program who always give good advice to the designers. He often says 'Carry on', 'Make it work' to encourage them. these two phase almost become a joke among designers , but i like its message anyway.

於大陸電視節目中看見陶傑有點出奇,他竟然在主持文化歷史節目,我不是懷疑他的能力與知識(雖然他普通話有點生硬),而是他被內地認識及接受到了這個程度,對此有點意外。

James came to Hong Kong finally! What a good show, even better it was held in HKCEC in Wanchai. Personally, I really don't want to go to AsiaWorld Expo which is located near the airport. My cold has temporarily faded away in this warm feeling concert. When he sang 'Goodbye My Lover', it almost moved me to tear, but then we all sang along, the volume of our singing was so loud and powerful that my emotion changed from sadness to happiness instantly!

第一次聽到他們聲音便很感動,為他們得到Oscar獎(Academy Award for Best Original Song)而高興,之後錯過了電影節兩場放映,幸好現在於Broadway院線上映,上星期看了後很感動,戲中男女在音樂上擦出火花,不過他們各有過去和包袱...結局不在這裡說穿,我個人幾喜歡的。
沒有打鬥,床戲,大明星,只有音樂及愛情的感覺,你會去看嗎?

Last Sunday two friends and I had a dinner in Mui Wo. The restaurant is on the right of the pier which is very easy to find. We ordered a seafood set. we swapped a dish of fish for curry with beef. It was very good and yummy. I didn't expect that! Clams. scallops, shrimps and curry were all great! And it's only $295! Too bad this restaurant isn't near my home!

等了兩個多月，今晚終於見到了Maroon 5，他們的表現跟唱片上有點分別，比較ROCK，個人來說感受未萛很深，仍然是一場good show，最怕當然是去亞洲國際博覽館啦！很好有朋友駕車載我回家，謝謝啊！

誤闖羅志華追思會

星期五晚我途經中環域多利皇后街，經過三聯書店旁大廈門口，見到告示寫著羅志華追思會，他是誰？他是青文老闆，愛書但被書殺死的人；我不理是否歡迎我這過路人，一於上去看看，當時追思會已接近尾聲，聽了他的朋友及姐姐說及他的事，原本不認識他的我，對他有了一點點了解，有些事情往往發生以後才有人留意，他的死，才令我留意他生前做過的事！

很快零八年已踏入三月了，我終於接受不了今年仍未看畢一本書，於是又埋頭看書了，選了 Ian McEwan的On Chesil Beach，貪它頁數較少，我相信萬事起頭難，只要看完這書，這年應可還不少書債，兩天已看了一半，相信這星期內可看完，遲些我會為這書寫感想，暫時覺得作者寫得很好看啊！

看了Juno，不俗，戲中Juno不因意外懷孕而擔心，反而積極面對，說實在我覺得她有點老人精，爭最女主角亦未是時候，不過我推薦這套電影。:)

上星期日趕在Oscar前看了這套最佳電影，我個人覺得不錯的，結局在我意料之外,亦不是我喜歡的，不過值得一看的。

多得友人Tim借我Canon S5 IS,讓我可試試別的數碼相機，自己一向用Sanyo，貪它拍影片與攝影皆可，由於等價交換關係，攝影能力其實不萛出色；不過小弟對攝影興趣日增，於多拍多試下,漸漸它的極限可能限制我拍照出來的效果，不過自己這方面經驗尚淺，不知是個人技巧還是相機的問題，於是借來一部Prosumer相機，試試我和它可以拍出什麼來！

回家路上的隨影，立即愛上將光線凝住的影像！原本這張相over了很多，我Photoshop了一下,變成這樣子！

I watched the movie 'There will be blood' this afternoon which is nominated in Academy awards this year. It is really well made. Its story is full of dark side of human beings. Although this movie is set in the country of United States early 20 century, it certainly is believable. Daniel Day-Lewis, the Leading Role in this movie, did a sensational job as a very disagreeable man!
I recommend this movie!

上一篇文用了奇奇怪怪作題目,卻沒有解釋當中意思! 不好意思呢!
其實本來想提及另一件事的,事源數日前收到某人的要求,幫他朋友做一些事,由於事情涉及金錢,我不想幫,因問題出現的時候,我向誰追討呢?即使某人願作擔保人,而於這事裡,我沒有得著,只會招致損失。說到這裡,可能大家會知道我作出什麼選擇,不過問題出現在我和某人關係很親密,令我很難說「不」...

收到消息一位朋友於柬埔寨發生車禍，雖然是當事人來電告知，但所知不多，希望他傷勢不太嚴重吧。
對柬埔寨認識不多，擔心當地醫療設施落後，影響康復。

*補充* 再收到這位朋友最新消息,原來意外發生時,他沒戴頭盔(他真是胡來!),全身都有損傷及瘀傷,沒有骨折(不幸中好幸運!),頭要縫針。

長江七號

知道有不少朋友看畢長江七號後,表示不搞笑、周星馳失準云云。
的確,今次星爺一改戲路,改拍溫情片+叮噹(不是多拉A夢!)/ET情節,其實依然有誇張漫畫式的笑位,雖然盡力討好fans,不過兩面討好從來都難,整體感覺的確難以少林足球比較。
可能我老土,對影片中的爸爸對兒子的教導很接受,覺得很感動,所以對此片印象不錯。

Recently I watched 'I am a legend' and 'Cloverfield', both of the stories described Manhattan being destroyed badly coincidentally. This time I want to talk about the latter movie. First of all, what is the meaning of its name? I searched on google, but I didn't get the answer. Anyway, I enjoyed watching this movie. The way they made the movie, and the camera angle the chose, and those low-profile casts the picked were good enough to make me believe that's something really happening! Sometimes the shaky picture made me feel uncomfortable, but it's acceptable. The sounds are good too.
You may not find a good story in this movie, but hey, it will make you sweat!
